The Design of our Botswana Tartan

Our Botswana Tartan incorporates the colours of the national flags of Botswana and Scotland, along with yellow, a pan-African colour symbolising hope. This thoughtful combination of colours and cultural significance makes the Botswana Tartan a unique and meaningful design. All of our tartan is woven locally with 100% British wool, and can be ordered by the metre or half metre. We can also create a bespoke Botswana tartan product for you. Choose from a wide range which includes kilts, shawls, ties, cosmetic bags and more. They will be handmade in our workshop in the South of Scotland.

The Story behind our Botswana Tartan

Celebrating heritage and friendship between Scotland and Botswana, The Botswana Tartan is a unique design from the Tartans for Africa Collection, created to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Scotland and Botswana. This initiative plays a vital role in supporting community enterprises and humanitarian projects in both Scotland and Africa. Designed in 2006, the Botswana Tartan was created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Botswana's independence, symbolising the deep cultural and historical ties between the two nations. Like other tartans in the Tartans for Africa collection, the Botswana Tartan celebrates heritage, unity, and the spirit of collaboration.
